A friend of mine named Paul received an automobile from his brother as a Christmas present. On Christmas Eve when Paul came out of his office, a street urchin was walking around the shiny new car, admiring it.

Paul nodded. "My brother gave it to me for Christmas." The boy was astounded. "You mean your brother gave it to you and it didn’t cost you nothing? Boy, I wish . . ." He hesitated.
Of course Paul knew what he was going to wish for. He was going to wish he had a brother like that. But what the lad said jarred Paul all the way down to his heels.
"I wish," the boy went on, "That I could be a brother like that."
Paul looked at the boy in astonishment, then impulsively he added, "Would you like to take a ride in my car?"
"Oh yes, Id love that."
After a short ride, the boy turned with his eyes aglow, said, "Mister, would you mind driving in front of my house?"
Paul smiled a little. He thought he knew what the lad wanted. He wanted to show his neighbors that he could ride home in a big automobile. But Paul was wrong again. "Will you stop where those two steps are?" the boy asked.
He ran up the steps. Then in a little while Paul heard him coming back, but he was not coming fast. He was carrying his little crippled brother. He sat him down on the bottom step, then sort of squeezed up against him and pointed to the car.
"There she is, Buddy, just like I told you upstairs. His brother gave it to him for Christmas and it didn’t cost him a cent. And some day Im gonna give you one just like it . . . then you can see for yourself all the pretty things in the Christmas windows that Ive been trying to tell you about." Paul got out and lifted the lad to the front seat of his car. The shining-eyed older brother climbed in beside him and the three of them began a memorable holiday ride. 其次练好基本功是学好英语的必要条件，没有扎实的英语基础，就谈不上继续学习，更谈不上有所成就。要想基本功扎实，必须全神贯注地认真听讲，上好每一节课，提高课堂效率。因此我们应该做到以下“五到”：
一、“心到”。在课堂上应聚精会神，一刻也不能懈怠，大脑要始终处于积极状态，思维要活跃、思路要开阔，心随老师走，听懂每一句话，抓住每一个环节，理解每一个知识点，多联想、多思考，做到心领神会。
二、“手到”。学英语，一定要做课堂笔记。因为人的记忆力是有限的，人不可能都过目不忘，记忆本身就是不断与遗忘作斗争的过程。常言说，“好记忆不如烂笔头”。老师讲的知识可能在课堂上记住了，可是过了一段时间，就会忘记，所以，做好笔记很有必要。英语知识也是一点点积累起来的，学到的每一个单词、词组以及句型结构，都记在笔记本上，甚至是书空白处或字里行间，这对以后的复习巩固都是非常方便的。
三、“耳到”。在课堂上，认真听讲是十分必要的，不但要专心听老师对知识的讲解，而且要认真听老师说英语的语音、语调、重音、连读、失去爆破、断句等发音要领，以便培养自己纯正地道的英语口语。听见听懂老师传授的每一个知识点，在头脑里形成反馈以帮助记忆；理解领会老师提出的问题，以便迅速作答，对比同学对问题的回答，以加深对问题的理解而取别人之长补自己之短。
四、“眼到”。在认真听讲的同时，还要双眼紧随老师观察老师的动作、口形、表情、板书、绘图、教具展示等。大脑里形成的视觉信息和听觉信息相结合，印象就会更加深刻。

我叫xx，来自初一（7）班。今天能代表全体新生发言，让我倍感荣幸，也倍感自豪。教师节来临之际，我谨代表所有初一新生向我们辛勤的老师们道一声：“老师，您辛苦了！祝您节日快乐！”
在这秋高气爽的九月里，我们进入了xx中学的校门，来到了人生中的又一个转折点——初中。进入xx，从学习校训校规到进行军训，老师的关心，教官的严肃活泼，处处是井井有条，张弛有度，让我开始感受到了初中生活的苦与乐。
在接下来的三年的初中生活中，刻苦、努力将会是我们学习生活的`主旋律。我们要百尺竿头，更进一步，为今后的学习打下坚实的基础。列夫·托尔斯泰曾经说过：“理想是指路明灯，没有理想，就没有坚定的方向，没有方向就没有生活。”我们一定要树立一个远大的理想。比如考上清华、北大等重点大学，当一个科学家……有了理想，才有前进的动力。正如我们的校训要求的：“志当存高远。”我们是时代的骄子，祖国的未来，希望大家能够不断进步，超越自我。
有了理想，就要付诸实践。爱迪生说过：“天才是百分之一的灵感加上百分之九十九的汗水。”初中阶段的我们，要端正学习态度，勤思善问，积极主动。做到课前预习，上课认真听讲，勤做笔记，及时复习，按时完成各项作业。认真对待学习中的困难和困惑。
人生就像一场接力赛，初一又是一个新的起点。不管你以前有多么优秀，现在大家都处于同一起跑线上。初中的功课增多了，难度加大了，我们要有坚定不移的信念和必胜的决心，去攻克学习生活上的一座座碉堡。我们要珍惜把握每一次学习的机会。不要老叹息过去，它是不再回来的；要明智地改善现在，用自己的汗水和智慧推开理想之门。

进校的四日军训，是令人难以忘记的。在军训的四天中教官们用严格的纪律磨练了我们的意志，军训之后我们拥有了吃苦耐劳的精神。在以后的学习生活中，只要想到这段时光，我相信一定会受益无穷。
知识在于积累，天才在于勤奋。我们清楚地知道：学习是取得成功的基础，只有青少年时期努力学习，积累丰富的知识，才能为将来的成功打下坚实的基础。实践是取得成功的源泉。在掌握知识的基础上，我们还必须到生活中去汲取养料。

我的爸爸是一个喜爱文学的人，是一个十足的读书狂。古代的名著他一无不知，《三国演义》等名著里的好多故事情节他都能说的头头是道，在他那间不足二十*米的书房里，书籍占满了大半的空 间，两个大书架上摆得汇成商学院的，床头上一大摞，书桌上摆的也是书。小时候，我爱坐在他的那个老式的大书架上，抽出一本本书籍，一页页地翻看，虽然那时还不认识太多字，但却让我从小爱上了读书 ，这一习惯的养成让我受益匪浅，所以我非常感谢我的爸爸，在我成长的历程中给了我一个座标，给了我一个方向。
我的妈妈是一位勤劳的女性，由于爸爸工作比较忙，所以妈妈在上班之余，承担了我的衣食住行等一切家里的杂事。在一套拥有二十多年的`老房子里妈妈把它收拾得一尘不染，井井有条。妈妈还非 常关心我的学习，但从不强调我的考试分数，所以在这样轻松的环境氛围里，我的成绩一直很出色。虽然妈妈有时是烦锁的，是唠叨的，却也是世上最真挚的，最无私的，永远在我背后鼓励我的人，用 爱支撑我，催我前进的人。所以我更感谢我的妈妈，在我成长的历程中她不但给了我生命，还给了我无私的关怀和力量。
我的卧室干净整洁，一只只可爱的毛绒玩具摆放在房子里的各个角落。书桌上那一张张照片，记录着我从小到大的每一个成长的快乐瞬间，一个装满书籍的书架在我的房间里尤其的显眼，还有那贴 在墙上的那一张张奖状，它见证着小主人是一位爱读书的人，是一位非常出色的小学生。
我的家常年居住着我们一家三口，偶尔，奶奶和姥姥会到我家小住一段时间，虽然不算空旷，但也并不拥挤。我的家在五楼，站在阳台上，透过窗户，可以望到很远的风景，周围高高的楼房，前方 和右方的宽阔马路。
我的家虽然已经有二十多年的历史，结构不尽合理，但由于是校区房，所以这儿居住的人非常的多，人员也非常的复杂。爸爸妈妈也因此时常提醒我注意安全。

在家中，父母亲犹如我的好朋友，每天都说说笑笑地过日子，哪怕是在回家的路上，多么的高兴啊!只要一踏进家门，我的心就像被松绑一样的轻松、自如啊。在我成长的环境中，有令我快乐的一面， 也有令我悲伤的一面。在整间屋子里，我最喜欢的就是我的房间，房间里有一张书桌、一张大床、一个书柜、一盏台灯和一台电脑……我每天在书桌上写作业，在大床上睡觉，有时候写作业写累了，就 坐在电脑前轻松轻松，让写作业多时的大脑松懈下来，有空的时候就翻翻书柜里的书。房间里的每一物都是陪伴着我的喜、怒、哀、乐。另一个我熟悉的地方就是我家的小花园。花园里有翠绿的小草， 争芳斗艳的鲜花，我还时常在花园里玩耍。

各位老师，各位同学，大家好!我是x年级x班的xxx。我今天竞选的职务是学生会的副部长。
能够成为那一个班中，仅有的两个人的其中一员，入选加入学生会，我深感荣幸。而对于一个刚刚上任没几天的学生会委员来说，能有这么一个竞选副*的机会，更加难得。所以，我今天就站在了这里，希望与各位同仁一起竞选这副*的职务。
我之所以来竞选，除了刚才所说的机会难得之外，首先是因为在刚上学那会儿，当我看见那些学长们一个个都带着红袖标，既帅气又威风，于是我励志进入学生会。如今好梦成真，在我加入了大家的工作以后，我才发现，原来我梦寐以求的工作，除了威风、帅气以外，还是非常神圣的。这是一个帮助同学们养成良好的生活习惯的工作，它可以监督同学们，也可以带给同学们既丰富又有意义的学习生活，给本来单一的学校生活增添几分光彩。因此我更加喜欢它了，因为我想带给大家快乐、多彩的生活。

对于我对现在学生会的，我的建议就是：
一、 我想应该加强一个班内的同学的*等，使每个同学都感到老师同学给予自己的关怀，发掘每个同学的各方面潜力，而不是单纯的用考试的"成绩来决定大家对同学的态度，并尝试一下在班里开一下这方面的主题队会。我想这样也许就能让同学们更上一层楼了吧。
二、 我想也可以加强各年级之间的合作。毕竟高年级都是“过来人”，比较知道各方面重点、难点，组织学习经验交流。这样既可以提高低年级的成绩，也能加深高年级对知识的印象。
不管我今天是否入选，我都不会放弃，我会继续努力，努力争取下次机会。

大家好！
今天我们初一年级全体师生参加升旗仪式，同学们精神饱满，状态良好，老师非常高兴。
时间过得很快，开学到现在，转眼就是一个多月。在这一个多月里，我们初一年级师生在学校的统一领导下，以全新的姿态投入新学期的学习和工作，大家团结协作，拼搏进取，年级工作打开了一个新的局面。同学们的法纪观念和安全意识进一步加强，学习和工作的积极性进一步提高，整个年级“创建文明班级、争当三好学生”的氛围越来越浓，各班涌现了一大批的好人好事。同学们尊师守纪，文明礼貌，关心集体，乐于助人，勤奋好学，积极上进。最近，初一（3）班曾大可、初一（5）班李国豪、初一（6）班曾吕雯、初一（7）班梁晓佳等4位品学兼优的同学被推荐到学校进行表彰。说到这里，要重新提一下的是，上个学期结束时，全年级共评出“三好学生”、“优秀学生干部”140多人，期末考试时，全年级获得学习成绩优秀奖或进步奖的学生共180多人，这些同学的名字都上了光荣榜并得到了奖励。
最近，即将推荐兴宁市“三好学生”、“优秀学生干部”和“优秀*”人选，希望大家都来积极争取。老师也希望这个学期有更多同学的名字能够上光荣榜。
大家都可以看到，我们初一年级绝大多数同学是表现好的，进步大的，成绩突出的。但是，我们也发现，初一年级有一小部分同学对自己要求不严格，不愿听从老师和家长的教导，法纪观念不强，安全意识淡薄，学习态度不端正。表现在上课讲话，搞小动作，不记笔记，不做作业，下课聚集玩耍，追逐打闹，串级串班，躲在洗手间抽烟。还有个别同学拉帮结派，惹是生非。有些同学受到学校的纪律处分，非常令人痛心！希望做得不好的同学改正缺点，努力争取做一名合格的中学生。
目前正值春天多雨季节，上学途中路况不好，不安全因素加大，容易发生道路交通事故。大家要特别注意遵守交通规则，安全第一，“宁慢三分，不抢一秒”。安全这根弦始终不能放松。包括做好用火、用电、用煤气的安全，做好校内外各项活动的安全，坚决杜绝意外事故的发生。
昨天我们进行了这个学期的第一次月考。同学们遵守考试纪律，做到不迟到，不作弊，不提前交卷，积极发挥自己最好的水*，努力考出自己最好的成绩。大家的分数和名次这个星期就可以知道。成绩出来以后，我们都要进行认真的总结反思。成绩好、进步大的同学要总结经验，戒骄戒躁，再创佳绩；成绩暂时不能令人满意的同学要检查原因，树立信心，急起直追。月考过后要迅速掀起新一轮的学习竞赛高潮。
